2020 was a crazy year for everyone and being confined at home didn’t help the feeling of sadness and the urge to do, or learn something new. At the end of that year, I was done with the looks of my kitchen. But besides, not having the means to redo my kitchen, I didn’t have much time either. So I decided to try doing a kitchen makeover on the budget.
How did it all start
The old kitchen cabinets and color, everything about it gave me the urge to change it. So the cheapest alternative for me was covering it with contact paper. So that’s what I did.
Because I covered half the walls and the whole counter with the peel-and-stick “tiles”, it added to the cost. but in total, I spent $300 dollars, which is a small fraction of what I would have spent if I had gone the normal, more expensive route.
The Process is Long but Worth it.
The process is not hard, but it takes patience and in my view very worth it. Since could only work on it a few hours a day because of my regular job, it took me a few days to finish everything.
Below is the video of the “Kitchen makeover on the budget” on my YouTube Channel. Please keep in mind that this is not a detailed tutorial. I also included a short video of the update of how the kitchen looks today (Over 2 years later), and what I would have done differently.
