Hello everyone, today we will finish the mini-project we started previously. In my last post, I made a mini art journal and decorated two pages. Today we will decorate the other six pages.
Third Page – Be Kind to Everything that Lives
For the first page, I just colored it with a mix of red and orange. Added some gesso to tone it down a little and added an old tag from a booklet that I have been using for this journal. Then I added a few washi tapes here and there, some scraps of the tags I used, a mushroom sticker, and a butterfly as the main focal for my page. I printed the quote with my label maker machine and added sticker letters for the main word. We can say this adorable page is done.
Forth Page – The Earth has Music for Those who Listen
For the next page, I just colored the page with two tones of blue, both on the lighter side. Added a tag from my booklet, some music-inspired washi tape. I thought the page looked a bit empty, so I drew a mini person singing in to add some character, printer my quote, and used my sticker to add the word “Listen”. This is not the most elaborated page, but I like it.
Fifth Page – Colors are the Smiles of Nature
My next page started as a background disaster, that came together in the end. This is not my favorite page because I was going for a watercolor look. But I couldn’t really get those results and at some point, it was looking like a messy Carnival. However, I made it work with what I had. I cut the colored page into little pieces and glued it to my page. I added some paper leaves, a butterfly, and my quote. It all came together and I don’t hate the page.
Sixth Page – Nature Repairs Everything
This is my favorite page in the whole book. Is simple, with some subtle colors. I just added washi tape on one side and bottom border, placed the purple tag, a flower that I cut from a sticker book, one flower from an old ephemera pack that I have had for years now, and my quote. Making this page was quick and easy, what took me the longest was cutting the white borders from the sticker and ephemera flowers.
Seventh Page – Nature Does Not Hurry, Yet Everything is Accomplished
The following page is not the most organized, but it adds some character to my book and I love the little snail. Somehow when I started this page, my tired brain thought that red was a good fit for the main focal point. I honestly have no idea why or how. Thinking back, I should have gone with a light purple, or a pink color, anything more pastel. But I made it work, and even though this is not a masterpiece, the page turned out ok.
I used some washi tapes again, and the main focus is the snail and the round “flower” that I drew myself. I tried to draw the flower as simply as possible so you can try it as well. To try incorporating everything with that red blob, I diluted some red acrylic paint with water and used a small brush to add splashes on the page.
Eighth page – Time Spent Among Trees is Never Time Wasted
The last page does not have much going on. I used a set of stamps that I got online a while back. They are multiple sizes and types of trees. I started stamping the second biggest tree in the set, with “Shadow gray” archival ink, just to add some shadows. Then I stamped with ‘Coffee” archival ink, then black “jet black” and “Library green” to give some life to the page that was looking kind of dull.
Lastly, I inked the brothers of the page with “Walnut Stain” Distress ink to give an old look to it and I finally added my quote. Even though is a simple page, I really like it.
