Take Time to Enjoy the Simple Things

Hello everyone! I am back with a new art journal project. My Art Journal for today is “Take Time to Enjoy the Simple Things”. I mostly used Distress Oxide to color this page.

I started this page by spraying salty ocean as the base color. Next, I applied wilted violet, followed by a Dylusions spray in black called black marble. Lastly, I lightly sprayed rich mocha by Tattered Angel to add some shimmer. I would suggest drying the page after each layer of spray is applied.

To add a feel of night sky and space to it, I diluted some gesso with water and used a fan brush to tap some stars. You will get the same results with a small brush. Also, please keep in mind that since the sprays will react with any wet medium, the gesso will not stay as white and vibrant as it is shown in the picture below.

To stamp the clocks, which will be my focal point on this page, I colored another sheet of white cardstock. The colors used were, mustard seed, picked raspberry, fossilized amber, and mowed lawn. For the little hill where I will ground my flowers, I used again, mustard seed, abandoned coral, and carved pumpkin.

Archival inks such as Jet back, chrome yellow, and monarch orange were used to stamp all images.

I cut all images with scissors and used Walnut stain to darken up the edges of the stamped images above.

Lastly, I glued all elements together on the journal with liquid glue. Added the details with a black fine liner marker, and highlights with a white gel pen.
