Hello everyone! Today I am back with a new art journal page called Time Flies.
I had been struggling a little bit to put some of my ideas on a page. Sometimes I imagine something, and it works perfectly in my head, but it’s not so easy to put on paper. Some pages turn out fine and the process of transferring from my imagination to the journal is fast and painless. Some other times, it can go like this one, which is ok in the end but it was a struggle to get there.
Even though it’s not exactly what I imagined, I still like the results because there is always some learning and I do love the process of trying out new craft-related things and the challenge that sometimes comes with it.
My initial idea was to make a crackled background with white embossing powder, which would resist the sprays. Well, that did not turn out so visually beautiful in my option. It’s too busy for the background and somehow the boldness of the white in the dark page freaks me out a bit so I just left that one page for another project.
On the very first attempt to make this page, I forgot the step where I would have to emboss first and just then spray. I plan on using that page as well, but not today. So, in total, I sprayed three different pages to get to the results above. They will be used in the future; I just have to think about it for a bit longer. Or maybe not! Maybe one day I will just be browsing through my craft stuff and have an idea on how to finish or adapt it.
Just don’t throw your “Bad” pages away. Even the ones your think it was a “mistake”. You might be able to do something beautiful with them some other time. This page took me a few hours to finish divided into two days. Crafting to me is one of those moments in my day where I decompress and just don’t think about anything, but what I’m doing now.
Just a reminder about the materials that I use in my journals. I have been collecting arts and crafts supplies for over six years now. Mostly bought at discounted prices with coupons and a few at the time. I try not to buy many craft supplies, especially because I do not have much time to craft (I wish I could do a lot more). I try to use my starch and just buy replacements. Sometimes I do buy a tool that might help make things easier for me. But mostly, I try to use what I already have.
My final thoughts are, I love the page. It didn’t turn out perfectly like in my imagination but is still what I was able to accomplish with the skills and tools I have.

I hope you come along on this journey and start your own journal. It’s so much fun and very rewarding, even when everything seems overwhelming. You don’t have to fill out the whole page with paints and figures, you can also write on it. As said before, there is no right or wrong in art journaling. Just express yourself!
